Marcus Willis Claims Title in ATP Challenger Savannah as Third Seed
Willis and Harrison’s impressive run in Savannah saw them claim the ATP Challenger title, only dropping one set along the way. The third seeds started their campaign by defeating Oliver Crawford and Nichols Bybel in the first round in straight sets. They continued their dominant form in the quarter-final, overcoming Strong Kirchheimer and Toby Kodat to advance to the next round.
In the semi-final, Willis and Harrison faced a tough challenge against the second seeds Federico Gomez and Luis Martinez. After splitting sets, the Brit/American duo managed to edge out their opponents in a thrilling match tiebreak to secure their spot in the final.
Facing unseeded pair Simon Freund and Johannes Ingildsen in the championship match, Willis and Harrison once again displayed their superiority on the court. The Swede/Danish pair were unable to break the third seeds, who claimed the title in straight sets to cap off a fantastic tournament.
In other doubles action, there were mixed results for the Brits as they competed in various tournaments around the world. Luke Johnson and Skander Mansouri emerged victorious in Rome, while other pairs fell short in their respective matches.
