Australian Open StartUps Program Now Accepting Applications for Next Intake

Australian startups have the opportunity to showcase their innovative technology on the world stage at the upcoming tennis season with Tennis Australia’s AO StartUps program. The program, now in its fourth round, allows founders to pilot their tech during the Australian Open in January and within Tennis Australia’s business.

With more than 20 sports tech startups already participating in the program, including Prism Neuro, PAM, and Cape Bionics, the AO StartUps program is now open for applications for the next intake. This round is specifically looking for early-stage tech companies in the areas of health and wellness, sustainability, Padel tennis, and the fan experience.

Participating startups not only get the chance to showcase their technology at the Australian Open but also receive access to proprietary intelligence and potential investment from Tennis Australia’s venture capital fund, Wildcard Ventures. Wildcard Ventures, established in 2021, has already invested in successful startups like Mr Yum and Swing Vision.

Tennis Australia’s head of innovation, Dr. Machar Reid, emphasized the program’s goal of uncovering the best ideas in early-stage sport tech companies and providing them with a platform at one of the biggest global sports and entertainment events. The program is open to startups from around the world that have the potential to “change the game.”

Applications for the AO StartUps intake close on May 24, 2024, so interested startups are encouraged to apply soon for this unique opportunity to showcase their technology on centre court during the tennis season.
