Harvard Women’s Tennis Extends Win Streak to 10 Games with Victory Over UMass

The Harvard women’s tennis team continued its winning streak with a dominant 4-1 victory over the University of Massachusetts, extending their impressive run to 10 consecutive wins. Coming off a successful 3-0 spring break trip to California, the Crimson showcased their strength and determination in their final non-conference match of the season.

Head Coach Traci Green praised her team’s exceptional performance against UMass, highlighting the valuable experience gained during their trip out West. The players were truly tested in various conditions, preparing them well for the upcoming Ivy League season.

The team’s success was evident in both doubles and singles play, with impressive victories from players like Kate Kim, Holly Fischer, and Sany Gawande. Coach Green commended the team’s ability to problem-solve and stay focused, emphasizing the importance of taking care of their bodies and focusing on the little things.

Junior co-captain Angel You and freshman Elsie Ragatz both credited the coaching staff and team camaraderie for their success, noting the support and motivation they receive both on and off the court.

Looking ahead to Ivy League action, the team is focused on making in-match adjustments and continuing their high level of play. With upcoming matches against Yale and Brown, the Crimson are determined to showcase their fighting spirit and determination.

The team’s next challenge will be against Yale in a highly anticipated rematch, followed by a celebration of Harvard Women’s Tennis’ 50th anniversary. With a strong sense of unity and determination, the Crimson are poised to make a strong statement in Ivy League play and beyond.
