Dan Evans knocked out of Barcelona Open by Brandon Nakashima: Tale of the Tape and How to Watch on Sky Sports Tennis
Dan Evans suffered a disappointing defeat in the Barcelona Open as he was knocked out by American Brandon Nakashima in straight sets. The British player, who has been struggling on clay courts recently, was unable to find his rhythm against the determined Nakashima.
Nakashima, ranked No 87, took control of the match early on, racing to a 4-1 lead in the first set. Despite Evans’ efforts to claw his way back into the game, Nakashima’s aggressive play and solid shot-making proved too much for the Brit to handle. The American eventually claimed the first set in a tie-breaker.
In the second set, Evans initially took the lead but faltered with his returns, allowing Nakashima to seize control and secure a comfortable victory. With this win, Nakashima sets up a clash with second seed Andrey Rublev in the next round, looking to avenge his previous defeat against the Russian player.
Meanwhile, Evans’ loss in Barcelona marks his third consecutive opening-round defeat on clay, following early exits in Marrakesh and Monte-Carlo. As a result, the British player has dropped out of the top 50 rankings.
