Conant Girls’ Tennis Team Secures First Win of the Season

The Conant girls’ tennis team secured their first win of the season on Wednesday, defeating Trinity 6-3. After three losses, the Orioles came out strong with singles players Jess Yap, Caroline Rockhill, Riley Goddard, and Emily Lewis all winning their matches. Despite the loss, Nobley Walker and Grace Lewis put up a good fight, with Grace Lewis narrowly losing by a 9-7 margin, similar to the previous day’s match against Kearsarge.

In doubles, the second team of Grace Lewis and Rockhill, as well as the third team of Goddard and Lewis, emerged victorious against Trinity’s newer tennis players. The Orioles displayed great teamwork and determination throughout the matches, showcasing their skills on the court.

Looking ahead, the Orioles are set to face Sanborn on Friday, hoping to carry the momentum from their recent win into the upcoming match. With their first victory under their belt, the team is motivated to continue improving and striving for success in future competitions.

In other sports news, the ConVal softball team dominated in a rainy game against Plymouth, securing a 21-1 victory to maintain their undefeated record at 4-0. Every starter contributed to the impressive win, with standout performances from Ivy Armstrong-McEvoy, Avery Moore, Brynn Frosch, Olivia Riley, and Opale Barrick.

Pitcher Sydney Borges delivered a stellar performance on the mound, allowing only two hits and seven walks while recording an impressive 13 strikeouts with no earned runs. The Cougars are set to host Pelham on April 24, aiming to continue their winning streak in the upcoming matchup.
