Fellow Snooker Star Backs Ronnie O’Sullivan’s Potential Move to Breakaway Tour

Snooker star Ronnie O’Sullivan has received backing from fellow player Stephen Maguire after expressing interest in potentially defecting to a breakaway tour. Maguire, who recently made it through to the quarter-finals of the World Snooker Championship, has stated that he is open to listening to offers that may come his way.

O’Sullivan made headlines last week when he revealed that he would be willing to walk away from the World Snooker Tour (WST) if the right offer came along. While some players, like World No 2 Judd Trump, have expressed their loyalty to the WST, others, like Shaun Murphy, believe that those who defect should not be allowed to play Triple Crown events.

Maguire, however, sees the potential for a breakaway tour as a positive development for the sport of snooker. He has not been approached by any investors yet, but he remains open to any proposals that may arise.

The 43-year-old player expressed his interest in potentially leaving behind qualifying non-televised events in small venues in favor of a more lucrative opportunity. Maguire emphasized that he is always looking and listening for new opportunities and that his phone is always on.

With golf seeing a rise in rebel tours in recent years, O’Sullivan has indicated that he would be prepared to leave the WST if a similar tour were to be formed in snooker. He emphasized the importance of being prepared to walk away if necessary and stated that he is open to any offers that may come his way.

In a competitive world where every person is a business, players like O’Sullivan and Maguire are looking out for their best interests and considering all options available to them. The potential for a breakaway tour in snooker could bring about significant changes in the sport and offer players new opportunities for growth and success.
