Stephen Hendry praises Ronnie O’Sullivan’s unstoppable form as he aims to break world title record
Ronnie O’Sullivan’s dominance in the world of snooker continues to impress as he aims to break the record he currently shares with Stephen Hendry. The Rocket’s performance in the semi-final of the Tour Championship against Gary Wilson showcased his unwavering determination and skill on the table.
Despite a level score of 7-7, O’Sullivan managed to pull ahead and secure a spot in the final with three consecutive frame wins. Hendry, who has been a long-time rival of O’Sullivan, acknowledges the 48-year-old’s ability to elevate his game when the finish line is in sight.
“He tends to find that gear and no one can cope with it,” Hendry said on ITV. “When he sees that winning line, he just races for it. It wasn’t his best performance today, Ronnie, in terms of cue-ball control and stuff. But when you get to that final hurdle, there’s no one who can touch him.”
O’Sullivan’s impressive track record this season, including five tournament wins and victories in the first two Triple Crown events, sets the stage for a potential record-breaking performance at the upcoming World Snooker Championship. Hendry believes O’Sullivan has all the necessary elements in place to achieve this milestone.
“He’s still having these performances. He’s going to be a dangerous animal, not only here in the final but obviously the Crucible, he’s going for the eighth world title,” Hendry added.
As O’Sullivan continues to showcase his unparalleled talent and determination on the snooker table, fans eagerly anticipate his performance at the World Championship, which kicks off on April 20 at the Crucible. With Hendry’s endorsement and O’Sullivan’s track record this season, all eyes will be on the Rocket as he aims to make history once again.
