Mark Williams stuns Ronnie O’Sullivan with seven-frame comeback in Tour Championship final

Mark Williams produced a stunning comeback to defeat Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final of the Tour Championship in Manchester, reeling off seven frames in a row to secure a memorable victory.

The clash between the two snooker legends marked only the sixth time they had faced each other with a title on the line since 2005, and the first in a ranking event since 2000. At a combined age of 97, this was also the oldest ranking final of all time, highlighting the enduring quality of both players.

O’Sullivan, chasing his sixth title of an incredible season, looked set to claim victory after coming from 3-1 down to lead 5-3 with three century breaks. Reflecting on his victory, Williams expressed his surprise at still winning tournaments at the age of 49, while O’Sullivan praised his opponent’s consistency and talent, suggesting that Williams could be world number one if he dedicated himself to the game.
