Judd Trump emerges victorious over Hossein Vafaei in World Snooker Championship 2024, while Joe O’Connor leads Mark Selby

Judd Trump advances to last 16 at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield – Selby in danger of first-round exit

Judd Trump continued his impressive form at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, moving into the last 16 of the World Snooker Championship with a convincing 10-5 victory over Hossein Vafaei. Trump, a former world champion, showcased his skill with breaks of 95, 74, and 89 to secure the win.

The world number two will now face Tom Ford in the next round, after Ford defeated Ricky Walden 10-6 in his match. Meanwhile, four-time world champion Mark Selby is in danger of a shock first-round exit as he trails debutant Joe O’Connor 7-2. O’Connor, ranked 30th in the world, needs just three frames to advance to the last 16.

In another match, Welsh qualifier Jak Jones produced a superb performance to defeat China’s Zhang Anda 10-4. Jones, ranked 44th in the world, led 5-2 after the first session and expressed his happiness at advancing in the tournament.

Elsewhere, Stephen Maguire and Shaun Murphy also secured wins in their matches. Maguire came from behind to defeat Ali Carter 10-7, while Murphy holds a 6-3 lead over Lyu Haotian. Murphy ended the session with a break of 111, setting up an exciting continuation of the match on Monday.
