John Higgins Displays Sportsmanship in Tour Championship Match Against Mark Allen

John Higgins once again proved why he is considered one of the classiest players in snooker during his Tour Championship match against Mark Allen on Sunday afternoon. The Scottish player, known as the Wizard of Wishaw, displayed exceptional sportsmanship by calling a foul on himself during the last-16 match in Manchester.

Higgins, who is a snooker legend with 31 titles to his name, found himself in a tricky situation in the fifth frame against Allen. While taking a safety shot, Higgins accidentally hit the white ball twice, a foul that went unnoticed by the referee. However, instead of taking advantage of the situation, Higgins immediately informed the referee about his mistake, earning praise from the crowd for his honesty.

Despite his selfless act, Higgins was leading the match 4-1 against the world No. 3, Allen. However, Allen managed to stage a comeback by winning the next three frames, tying the game at 4-4 before the end of the first session.

In another exciting match on the opening day of the Tour Championship, Gary Wilson surprised everyone by taking a 5-2 lead against Mark Selby. Despite Selby twice taking the lead, Wilson managed to catch up and pull ahead by winning the fifth, sixth, and seventh frames. Selby, however, fought back by winning the eighth frame, keeping his chances of advancing alive.

The Tour Championship in Manchester promises to deliver more thrilling matches as the competition heats up, with players vying for a total prize fund of £500,000. Stay tuned for more updates on the exciting world of snooker.
