Royal Hospital School Sailing Team Wins Gold at UK Women’s National Championship
The Royal Hospital School in Holbrook, Ipswich, is basking in the glory of its sailing team’s recent triumph at the UK Women’s National Championship. The school’s two teams, comprising six sailors each, showcased their skills and determination as they navigated through intense races against formidable opponents from universities and sailing clubs.
On the first day of the championship, the RHS Grey team dominated the competition by winning nine out of 10 races, securing the top position in the rankings. Meanwhile, the RHS Blue team also put up a strong performance by winning seven races and securing the 5th position.
Advancing to the gold league on the second day, the RHS Blue team continued their winning streak by clinching victory in 5 out of 6 races and securing the 2nd position in the league standings. Their impressive performance led them to the finals where they faced Girls Afloat, the top team in the competition.
In a thrilling final showdown, the RHS Blue team displayed exceptional teamwork and determination to emerge victorious and claim the UK Women’s National Championship title. Ed Sibson, Director of Sailing at Royal Hospital School, expressed immense pride in the team’s achievement, highlighting their dedication, teamwork, and unwavering determination.
