Celebrating the Life of Robert A. (Bob) Damon: A Man with a Big Heart
The sports world is mourning the loss of a true legend, Robert A. (Bob) Damon, who passed away suddenly at his home in Vero Beach, Florida on March 14. Known for his big heart and larger-than-life personality, Bob Damon was a beloved figure in the sports industry and beyond.
Born in Somerville, Massachusetts, Bob Damon was a strategic consultant who quickly rose to the top of the executive search industry. He worked with global search firms like Spencer Stuart and Korn Ferry, recruiting top talent for companies such as Oakley, Levi Strauss, and the Avedis Zildjian Company. Bob also played a key role in placing commissioners in major sports leagues like the NHL, NFL, and MLB.
In addition to his professional success, Bob was deeply committed to giving back to his community and supporting our nation’s veterans. He was a founding member of the Special Operations Fund, which provides support to the families of fallen soldiers, and volunteered his services to the Headstrong Project, a charity that offers PTSD treatment to veterans.
Bob Damon’s love for adventure and thirst for knowledge were unmatched. He was an avid sailor, mountain climber, and athlete, always seeking out new challenges and experiences. His joyful irreverence and unwavering optimism brought smiles to all who knew him.
Bob Damon is survived by his wife, Eugenie LaBranche Damon, his three children, and five grandchildren. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on May 16 at the Country Club of Darien, where friends, family, and colleagues will come together to honor his legacy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Special Operations Fund or the Headstrong Project in remembrance of Bob Damon’s dedication to supporting our nation’s veterans. Bob’s impact on the sports world and beyond will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire all who knew him.
