Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Opens Babil Water Sports Center to Promote Water Sports
Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has taken a significant step towards promoting water sports in the city by opening the Babil Water Sports Center. This new facility, located in Mezitli District, offers a wide range of water sports activities such as surfing, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, and rowing.
The Babil Water Sports Center, built on a 340 square meter area, consists of two separate buildings designed specifically for different water sports disciplines. The center also includes administrative sections, changing rooms, a warehouse area, and facilities for certified diving and lifeguard training approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Emrullah Taşkın, the Head of the Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Services Department, expressed his excitement about the opening of the Babil Water Sports Center, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to promoting sports in Mersin. He encouraged all citizens to take advantage of the new facility and participate in water sports activities.
Cengiz Sönmez, the President of Mersin Rota Sailing Club, praised the Babil Water Sports Center as a state-of-the-art facility that will put Mersin on the map in the world of sailing. He highlighted the city’s potential in marine sports and expressed his belief that Mersin will once again become a prominent destination for sailing races and international competitions.
With the opening of the Babil Water Sports Center, Mersin is set to become a hub for water sports enthusiasts of all ages. The facility’s modern amenities and focus on promoting various water sports disciplines will undoubtedly attract athletes and visitors from across the country.
