Mussanah Sailing School in Oman Selected as Category A High Performance Centre by ASAF

Oman Sail’s Mussanah Sailing School has been making waves in the sailing world as it has been selected by the Asian Sailing Federation (ASAF) to become a Category A High Performance Centre. This prestigious recognition highlights the facility’s top-notch facilities and its ability to host international events and Olympic class sailboats.

The Mussanah Sailing School will now serve as a hub for training and development programs for sailors and coaches across Asia, catering to all levels from beginners to elite athletes. In addition, the school will organize local, regional, and national sailing events to promote the sport in Oman and establish partnerships with local schools, sailing clubs, and organizations to introduce the community to sailing.

Dr Khamis al Jabri, Oman Sail CEO, expressed his excitement about the new designation, stating that the school’s sporting legacy makes it the perfect choice for a high-performance center that will benefit the entire continent. He emphasized the impressive results achieved by Oman Sail’s teams and young sailors who have trained and raced at the facility.

Rashid al Kindi, Oman Sail’s Head of Performance, highlighted the impact of the Mussanah Sailing School on Omani sailing, noting that it has already played a significant role in developing talent at all levels. He looks forward to contributing to the growth of sailing in Asia and providing opportunities for sailors to learn and compete on an international stage.

Dr Malav Shroff, President of the Asian Sailing Federation, praised the Sultanate of Oman’s rich maritime history and commended Oman Sail for creating a thriving sailing program. He believes that Mussanah has all the necessary elements to become an incubator of talent across Asia and a premier location for high-performance sailing.

With its world-class facilities and track record of hosting prestigious events, the Mussanah Sailing School is set to continue its success as a leading sailing hub in the region. Its recent accolade as a Category A High Performance Centre solidifies its position as a key player in the development of sailing talent in Asia.
