Spring Sports Update: Vineyard’s Student Athletes in Full Swing Across Various Divisions
After a well-deserved break during April vacation, the high school spring sports teams are back in action and making waves in their respective divisions. With girls lacrosse, boys baseball, and the sailing teams leading the charge with three wins each, the Vineyard’s student athletes are showcasing their skills across the water, diamond, court, field, and track.
The girls lacrosse team has been on fire, securing two impressive victories in their recent matchups. Against Falmouth Academy, Annabelle Metell led the charge with four goals, while Ali Dyke and others contributed to a 14-4 win. In their game against Boston Latin Academy, the girls rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to secure a 9-6 victory, with standout performances from Silvi Carroll and Lizzy Chvatal.
On the baseball field, the boys bounced back from a tough loss to Monomoy with a thrilling come-from-behind win against Falmouth. Charlie Porterfield’s go-ahead double and Axel Abrams’ solid relief pitching sealed the deal in a 4-2 victory.
The sailing team has also been dominating their competition, boasting an impressive 10-7 overall record and securing wins against top teams in the Cape and Islands League.
In track and field, Vineyarders showcased their talents at the Warrior Invitational, with notable performances from Camille Brand, Paula Geschke, and the boys 4×100 relay team.
On the tennis court, both the boys and girls teams notched wins against Nauset, showcasing their skills in singles and doubles matches.
