Dartmouth Sailing Team Competes in Three Regattas, Earns Top Finishes
The Dartmouth Big Green sailing team had a busy and successful weekend as they competed in three regattas, including the New England Women’s Team Race Championship.
At the NEISA Women’s Team Race Championship, the team put on a strong performance, finishing in fourth place with an overall record of 10-7. Skippers Maddie Hawkins, Gray Hemans, Bella Casaretto, and Sarah Young, along with their crews, showed great teamwork and skill throughout the competition.
In the Top 6 round, the Big Green only lost one race to Harvard and even managed to defeat the eventual winners, Yale, in one of their races. The team also had a solid showing at the Thompson Trophy hosted by the Coast Guard Academy, finishing in third place with a 12-7 record.
At the Central 4 regatta hosted by UNH, Dartmouth put together two teams that finished in first and third place overall. The first team dominated the competition, finishing with 30 total points and securing high-place finishes in each race.
Looking ahead, Dartmouth will be competing in three regattas next weekend, including two championships. They will be sailing in the Open New England Fleet Race Championship, the New England Women’s Fleet Race Championship, and the Mendum’s Pond Fleet Race.
