Alamitos Bay Yacht Club’s Youth Sailing Program and California Dreamin’ Series Highlighted

The Alamitos Bay Yacht Club’s youth sailing program is in full swing, with sailing director Carter Brock leading the charge. With an impressive sailing background that includes time on high school and college sailing teams, as well as coaching experience at various yacht clubs, Brock is dedicated to helping young sailors feel comfortable and confident on the water.

The program, open to both members and non-members, offers needs-based scholarships through the Alamitos Bay Sailing Foundation, ensuring that sailing is accessible to all. Participants in the program learn to rig their own sailboats, navigate the waters of Alamitos Bay, and eventually participate in races. With an emphasis on safety, fun, and skill development, the program aims to instill a love of sailing in all who participate.

For those looking to take their sailing skills to the next level, the program offers opportunities to sail in Optimists, Naples Sabots, Club Flying Juniors, and Lasers. Boats and equipment are provided for all classes, making it easy for students to jump right in and start learning.

In addition to the youth program, the Long Beach Yacht Club is hosting the final stop of the California Dreamin’ Series this weekend. The series, which features match-racing regattas in Catalina 37s, will determine the winner based on the highest series score. The top finishers will earn berths in prestigious events like the Ficker Cup and Congressional Cup.

With a focus on skill development, fun, and competition, the Alamitos Bay Yacht Club’s youth sailing program and the California Dreamin’ Series provide opportunities for sailors of all ages and skill levels to hone their craft and enjoy the thrill of racing on the water.
