Coffs Harbour Snappers Dominate King of the Country Titles: Watch Every Match Replay
The Coffs Harbour Snappers proved that distance was no obstacle as they dominated the King of the Country titles on the Gold Coast. Despite traveling further than any other team, the Snappers showcased their talent and skill, emerging as unbeaten champions in the Under-16 division.
Led by young gun Kden Carter, the Snappers put on a clinic, scoring over 142 points and conceding only one try throughout the tournament. Carter, a standout flyhalf, was instrumental in the team’s success, scoring a brilliant solo try and setting up two others in the final against the Noosa Dolphins.
The Snappers’ dominance was evident as they cruised to a 31-0 victory over the Dolphins in the decider, capping off a perfect weekend of rugby action. Alongside Carter, scrumhalf Darcy Cruickshanks and fullback Peter Hammond also played key roles in the team’s success.
In the Under-14 division, the Gold Coast Eagles emerged victorious, with playmaker Zavier Ngauamo leading the charge in a dominant display against the Helensvale Hogs in the grand final. The Eagles showcased their talent and skill throughout the tournament, finishing undefeated and securing a well-deserved title.
The King of the Country tournament brought together the best rugby teams from southeast Queensland and northern NSW, providing a platform for regional competition winners to showcase their abilities. Hosted by the Gold Coast Eagles, the tournament not only promotes the growth of the sport in regional areas but also generates revenue to support junior and youth programs.
