Jonathan Davies awarded testimonial year by Scarlets

Wales and British and Irish Lions centre Jonathan Davies has been honored with a testimonial year by Scarlets, celebrating his remarkable career with the club. The testimonial year will run from June 2024 to May 2025, recognizing Davies’ outstanding contribution to the team over the years.

Davies, affectionately known as ‘Foxy’, has played 209 games for Scarlets over 16 seasons since making his debut in 2006 as an 18-year-old. The 36-year-old is currently out of contract at the end of the season, leaving uncertainty surrounding his future with the club. Despite this, Davies expressed his gratitude to the Scarlets for awarding him the testimonial year, acknowledging the support he has received from the fans and the organization.

Having played 96 Tests for Wales and represented the British and Irish Lions on two tours, Davies has established himself as one of the leading centers in world rugby. He has been a key figure in Scarlets’ success, including their league triumph in the 2016-17 season.

Reflecting on his journey with the club, Davies shared his favorite memories, including winning the league title and forming strong bonds with his teammates. He also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play for Scarlets and the support he has received throughout his career.

A series of events are planned to celebrate Davies’ testimonial year, with proceeds going to his chosen charity LATCH. Scarlets chairman Simon Muderack praised Davies for his contributions to the game, describing him as a proud west Walian who has become one of the finest centers in world rugby.

As fans eagerly await news of Davies’ future with the club, they can look forward to celebrating his remarkable career and legacy during his testimonial year.
