Sale keep Premiership play-off hopes alive with victory over Harlequins

In a thrilling encounter at Salford, Sale Sharks emerged victorious over Harlequins in a high-scoring affair that kept their hopes of a Premiership play-off return alive. The match saw Sale’s Arron Reed shine as he scored twice on his 100th appearance for the Sharks.

The game got off to a blistering start for Sale, with Ben Curry and Sam Dugdale scoring early tries to give the Sharks a perfect start. However, Harlequins fought back with Louis Lynagh scoring a double to reduce the deficit. Sale’s Raffi Quirke and Arron Reed added to the tally, while Cadan Murley and Oscar Beard kept Harlequins in the game.

Despite a late surge from Harlequins, Sale managed to secure the win with a final score of 32-31. The victory sees Sale replace Harlequins in the top four, with Bristol now sitting ahead of both teams after a convincing win over Newcastle.

Sale director of rugby Alex Sanderson expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the importance of bonus points in the race for the play-offs. Harlequins head coach Danny Wilson acknowledged the frustration of conceding points despite a strong attacking display.

The match showcased the competitive nature of the Premiership as teams battle for a spot in the play-offs. With just three games left in the season, Sale’s back-to-back wins have put them in a strong position to challenge for a top-four finish. Fans can expect more exciting rugby action as the race for the play-offs heats up.
