England to Face New Zealand at Twickenham Ahead of WXV 1 Title Defence

Women’s rugby fans are in for a treat this September as England’s Red Roses gear up to take on reigning world champions New Zealand at Twickenham. The highly anticipated fixture comes ahead of the WXV 1 title defense in Canada and could potentially break attendance records for a women’s rugby match.

With a history of intense competition, the Red Roses and the Black Ferns have met in five of the last six World Cup finals, with the latter emerging victorious each time. However, the last meeting saw England clinch the inaugural WXV 1 title on New Zealand soil, setting the stage for an epic rematch at Twickenham.

England captain Marlie Packer expressed her excitement for the upcoming match, stating, “Playing the Black Ferns at the home of English Rugby is an unbelievable opportunity that doesn’t come around all too often. We can’t wait for thousands of our supporters to get behind us on another special day at Twickenham.”

Under the leadership of coach John Mitchell, the Red Roses recently secured their sixth successive Women’s Six Nations trophy and will first face France at Gloucester’s Kingsholm Stadium before welcoming New Zealand to Twickenham.
