Dragons Centre Jack Dixon Retires from Rugby at Age 29
Dragons centre Jack Dixon has announced his retirement from rugby at the age of 29, ending a 13-year career that saw him make 172 appearances for the club. The decision comes after Dixon suffered a head injury in November, but he clarified that his retirement is not injury-related.
Dixon, who became the youngest player to play Welsh regional rugby at just 16 years old, reflected on his career with pride, stating, “My career has nowhere near reached the heights I dreamt of, but I look back at my time with great pride as I can say, hand on heart, I gave 100% every time I stepped over the white line.”
Throughout his career, Dixon played for various clubs but remained loyal to Dragons, where he made a significant impact both on and off the field. Dragons head coach Dai Flanagan praised Dixon’s contribution to the club, highlighting his leadership and high standards as a role model for younger players.
Despite never earning a senior cap for Wales, Dixon’s achievements on the field, including being part of the team that defeated New Zealand in the Junior World Championships, have left a lasting legacy. His decision to retire marks the end of an era for Dragons, as they bid farewell to a player who has been a stalwart of the team for over a decade.
As Dixon closes this chapter of his life, he expressed gratitude for the support he received throughout his career and looks forward to starting the next chapter. His dedication and passion for the sport will be remembered by fans and teammates alike as he leaves behind a lasting impact on the rugby community.
