Saracens Confirm No Further Action for Billy Vunipola After Mallorca Incident
Saracens have announced that they will not be taking any further action against Billy Vunipola after the England international was fined €240 (£205) following an incident in Mallorca. The 31-year-old No 8 was reportedly tasered twice by police after an incident at a bar in Palma in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Despite launching an internal investigation into the matter, Saracens have decided to close the case and move forward. In a statement released on social media, the club condemned Vunipola’s behavior and warned him about his future conduct. They are now focused on the remainder of the Gallagher Premiership season.
Vunipola also released a statement clarifying the situation, denying any reports of violence or threats during the incident. He expressed his regret for the misunderstanding and confirmed that he has paid the fine and is cooperating with Saracens’ internal process.
The England international, who has won 75 caps for his country, is expected to leave Saracens at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Top 14 side Montpellier. Despite not being part of the current England squad, Vunipola continues to be a key player for Saracens, making an appearance in their recent victory over Bath.
Saracens are currently second in the Gallagher Premiership and are aiming for their sixth league title in the last 10 seasons. With just two rounds of regular-season games left before the play-offs, the club will be looking to maintain their strong form and secure a spot in the finals.
