Billy Vunipola Tasered and Arrested in Majorca Bar Incident

England rugby international Billy Vunipola found himself in hot water over the weekend after being tasered twice by police officers in Majorca. The 31-year-old was arrested at 4.30am on Sunday morning after causing a disturbance at Epic bar in Palma.

According to Spanish police, Vunipola, who stands at 6ft 2in and weighs over 20 stone, took off his shirt and began threatening customers and employees with bottles and chairs. The situation escalated when he allegedly assaulted an officer, leading to the use of a taser to subdue him.

Vunipola was then taken to Son Espases Hospital for assessment before being charged with resisting the law and fined €240 following an ‘express trial’. In a statement issued on Monday, he apologized for the incident, claiming it was a misunderstanding that got out of hand.

Saracens, Vunipola’s club team, also released a statement acknowledging the incident and stating that they would handle the matter internally. The England international has had a successful 10-year international career, earning 75 caps for his country.

Despite missing out on the Six Nations this year, Vunipola made an appearance for Saracens in their recent victory over Bath before going on holiday. The club is currently in second place in the Premiership standings and is aiming for their sixth league title in the last 10 seasons.

The incident in Majorca has certainly raised eyebrows, and it remains to be seen how Vunipola and Saracens will address the situation moving forward.
