Saracens Warn England Forward Billy Vunipola After Drunken Arrest in Majorca

In a shocking turn of events, England forward Billy Vunipola found himself in hot water after being arrested in Majorca in the early hours of Sunday morning. The 31-year-old was fined by an express trial for resisting the law and was even tasered by Spanish police during the incident.

Vunipola, who plays for Saracens, has since issued a public apology for his actions, admitting that he struggles with knowing when to stop when it comes to drinking. The incident occurred during what he believed would be his final team-bonding trip with Saracens before his departure from the club this summer.

Despite the apology, Saracens have warned Vunipola about his future conduct, and he could potentially face a misconduct charge from the Rugby Football Union. The club has stated that they will deal with the matter internally.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Vunipola opened up about his struggles with alcohol and his tendency to go too far when drinking. He explained that he had not consumed alcohol since August 2022 and decided to have a drink on the team trip as a way to celebrate his time with the club.

The incident has raised concerns about Vunipola’s behavior, with video footage showing him being tasered by police after refusing to leave a bar in Palma. Despite the ordeal, Vunipola remains defiant, stating that he did not remember being asked to leave the bar and denying any threatening behavior towards others.

Saracens have two games left in the Gallagher English Premiership regular season, and Vunipola’s future with the club remains uncertain. The team will travel to Bristol on May 11 before hosting Sale on May 18, with the play-offs set to take place on June 1. The Premiership Final will be held at Twickenham on June 8.
