TNT Sports to Broadcast Rugby Union’s Autumn Internationals in UK and Ireland
Rugby fans in the UK and Ireland have a new home for the autumn internationals as TNT Sports has secured the broadcasting rights for the upcoming fixtures. The matches, which include England and Ireland taking on the mighty All Blacks, as well as Scotland facing off against South Africa, will be shown on TNT and the discovery+ app.
This move comes after the fixtures were previously broadcast by Amazon Prime, with TNT now taking over the reins. The distribution to free-to-air broadcasters is still to be confirmed, but it is likely to consist of highlights packages for those who may not have access to the paid TV channels.
In addition to the autumn internationals, TNT also holds the broadcasting rights for the Gallagher Premiership and Investec Champions Cup, showcasing their commitment to bringing top-quality rugby to fans across the UK and Ireland. Tom Harrison, CEO of Six Nations Rugby, expressed his excitement at welcoming TNT Sports into the international rugby broadcast family for the first time.
While England’s summer Tests will continue to be shown on Sky Sports, the rights for the Six Nations remain split between BBC and ITV. The competition is no longer part of the UK government’s ‘Crown Jewels’ list of sporting events, but it can still be broadcast by subscription services as long as highlights are provided on free-to-air channels.
With TNT now at the forefront of rugby broadcasting in the UK and Ireland, fans can look forward to an action-packed autumn of international rugby featuring some of the best teams in the world. Make sure to tune in to TNT Sports in November to catch all the thrilling matches live.
