Wigan cruise past Castleford with resounding win in Super League – Liam Marshall shines with two tries

In a thrilling Super League clash on 19 April 2024, Wigan Warriors put on a dominant display to secure a resounding win over Castleford Tigers. Liam Marshall and Ryan Hampshire were the stars of the show, each scoring two tries to help their team keep pace at the top of the league standings.

The match got off to an exciting start as Bevan French opened the scoring for Wigan, only for Castleford’s Louis Senior to intercept a pass and run 80 meters for a debut try. However, Marshall quickly put Wigan back in front with his first try, followed by two quick-fire tries from Hampshire just after half-time.

As the game progressed, Wigan continued to assert their dominance, with Marshall adding another try and Abbas Miski crossing the line as well. Despite Rowan Milnes scoring a consolation try for Castleford, it was not enough to stop Wigan from securing their sixth win of the season.

Wigan’s performance was a stark contrast to their previous 60-6 drubbing of Castleford in the Challenge Cup, showing significant improvement in their gameplay. Head coach Matt Peet praised his team’s effort but noted that there is still room for improvement in terms of cohesion.

With no injuries to worry about, Wigan can now focus on building on this victory and continuing to progress throughout the season. The team’s depth and talent were on full display in this match, leaving fans excited for what the rest of the season has in store for the Warriors.
