Wigan Warriors Secure Bevan French Until 2028

In a move that has delighted fans and players alike, Wigan Warriors have announced that star player Bevan French has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2028 season. The news was confirmed by Jenna Brooks on Sky Sports News during The Rugby League Verdict, where she spoke to the Australian about his decision to stay with the reigning Man of Steel.

French’s new deal is part of a trend at Wigan, with the club also securing head coach Matt Peet to a long-term contract recently. The Warriors took to social media to share their excitement, posting: “WIGAN WARRIORS ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THE CONTRACT EXTENSION OF STAND-OFF BEVAN FRENCH.”

The 28-year-old joined Wigan midway through the 2019 season and quickly became a fan favorite with his skill and pace on the field. In 2022, he set a Super League record for the most tries scored in a single game and went on to win the prestigious Steve Prescott Man of Steel award in 2023.

French expressed his happiness with the new deal, stating: “I’ve evolved as a person and as a player since arriving at Wigan. The club’s vision for the future is exciting, and I want to be a part of that success.” Chief Executive Kris Radlinski praised French’s commitment to the club, while head coach Matt Peet described him as a leader both on and off the field.

With French’s future secured at Wigan, fans can look forward to seeing one of the most talented players in the game continue to entertain and inspire for the next four years.
