Exciting Return of Women’s Nines Rugby League to Victoria Park, Warrington
The excitement is building as Women’s Nines Rugby League is set to return to Victoria Park in Warrington next month. After a thrilling event last year, where Leeds Rhinos emerged victorious, fans are eagerly anticipating another action-packed tournament.
This year’s competition will feature all eight Betfred Women’s Super League teams, as well as teams from the regional Championships including Leigh Leopards, Widnes Vikings, and Telford Raiders. The teams have been drawn into four groups, with the top team from each group, along with two wildcards, advancing to Finals Day on Saturday 27 July.
Defending champions Leeds Rhinos will face tough competition from Challenge Cup holders St Helens, as well as teams from the Midlands Women’s Championship. Meanwhile, last year’s Super League winners, York Valkyrie, will be looking to defend their title against Warrington Wolves, Leigh Leopards, and Widnes Vikings.
The tournament will also feature newly promoted teams Barrow Raiders and Featherstone Rivers, who will face off against Cardiff Demons and Hull KR. With play scheduled from 10.30 am to 4 pm and free entry on the day, fans can expect a festival atmosphere similar to last year’s event.
RFL Head of Development, Tom Brindle, expressed his excitement for the upcoming tournament, highlighting the competitiveness and skill on display in the Women’s Nines format. With a mix of experienced players and rising stars, the event promises to be a thrilling showcase of women’s rugby league talent.
