Catalans Dragons set to face St Helens in Super League showdown
Catalans Dragons are gearing up to face off against St Helens in what promises to be a thrilling clash between the Super League’s top two teams. The Dragons, led by boss Steve McNamara, are looking to replicate their success from last season when they knocked out St Helens in the play-offs to reach the Grand Final.
Both teams have started the season in impressive form, with 10 points each to their name. McNamara is expecting a tough challenge from St Helens, who have been dominant in recent years, winning the past four Grand Finals.
“It showed us a lot about their club,” McNamara said of their victory over St Helens in the play-offs last year. “I knew this season they would be at the top end of their game, and they’ve shown themselves to be so far.”
St Helens boss Paul Wellens is also anticipating a close game, as the two teams have a history of tight encounters. “They tend to be close games when we’re against Catalans,” Wellens said. “We’re preparing for a tough game but we go there in good form and confidence.”
The game will be broadcast live on BBC Three, with around 1,200 Saints fans making the trip to Perpignan to support their team. Visits to the south of France have become a popular tradition for Saints fans, who enjoy the different matchday experience and the sunny weather.
As the two top teams in the Super League go head-to-head, fans can expect an exciting and closely contested match between Catalans Dragons and St Helens.
