Super League Clubs’ Estimated Salary Spend in 2024: Wigan Warriors Lead with £3.1million
Sky Sports has revealed the estimated spend of all 12 Super League clubs for the 2024 season, with Wigan Warriors leading the pack by reportedly spending £3.1 million on player salaries. The findings were disclosed by Sky Sports host Brian Carney ahead of the Leeds Rhinos vs. Warrington Wolves game.
According to Sky’s research, Catalans Dragons and Warrington Wolves are also in the £3 million club, while Leeds Rhinos, Huddersfield Giants, and St Helens are not far behind with £2.7 million each. Hull KR and Leigh Leopards are said to be spending £2.4 million and £2.2 million, respectively. The remaining four clubs are reportedly staying below the £2.1 million cap.
The salary cap for the season remains at £2.1 million, but clubs can exceed this limit through various loopholes, including the marquee player rule. Each club is allowed three marquee players, with different valuations based on their training status.
The table provided by Sky Sports offers an interesting insight into the financial landscape of the Super League, highlighting the disparity in spending among the clubs. Notably, Salford Red Devils have been commended for their impressive performance despite their relatively lower salary spend compared to other teams.
With the competition heating up on and off the field, fans can expect an exciting season ahead as clubs battle it out for supremacy in the Super League. Stay tuned for more updates on player transfers, contract negotiations, and game highlights as the season progresses.
