Huddersfield Giants Player Fenton Rogers Suspended After Drink Driving Charge and Assault Allegation

Huddersfield Giants’ rising star Fenton Rogers has found himself in hot water after being charged with drink driving and bailed on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. The 20-year-old, who was on loan to London Broncos earlier in the season, was arrested by Greater Manchester Police officers in the early hours of Friday, March 29.

Rogers, a product of Saddleworth Rangers, has been making strides towards becoming a regular top-flight player, but his recent off-field troubles have put his career on hold. He has been charged with drink driving and bailed in relation to the assault of an emergency worker. He is set to appear at Tameside Magistrates Court on May 16.

Huddersfield Giants have taken swift action in response to the incident, suspending Rogers with immediate effect pending the outcome of their own investigation. The club released a statement confirming the suspension and stating that no further comments will be made at this stage.

The news of Rogers’ arrest and suspension comes shortly after Giants coach Ian Watson praised the young player’s development and resilience in the tough Super League environment. Watson highlighted Rogers’ growth and understanding of the game, emphasizing the importance of his experiences in the Championship and on loan at London Broncos.

Despite the setback, Rogers’ journey in professional rugby league continues, with valuable lessons learned from his time on the field. As he navigates through this challenging period, Rogers will have the opportunity to reflect on his actions and make the necessary adjustments to move forward in his career.
