Renewed Partnership Between Kaiviti Silktails, PacificAus Sports, and NSWRL Creating Pathways for Fijian Rugby League Talent

The Kaiviti Silktails are making waves in the world of Rugby League, thanks to a renewed partnership between PacificAus Sports and the NSWRL. Chairman Petero Civoniceva spoke passionately about the impact this partnership is having on not just the team, but the entire Fijian community.

The Silktails’ goal has always been to provide local talent with the opportunity to play in Australian domestic competitions, ultimately leading to professional Rugby League opportunities. Starting in the NSWRL’s Ron Massey Cup four years ago, the team has now made their debut in the Jersey Flegg Cup, marking a significant milestone in their journey.

With continued support from PacificAus Sports and the NSWRL, the Silktails are able to offer a genuine pathway for talented Fijian athletes to reach the NRL and NRLW. This partnership was celebrated at a launch event attended by key figures including the Australian High Commissioner to Fiji and Fiji’s Prime Minister.

Beyond player opportunities, the partnership is also focused on creating better resources and infrastructure for local communities in Fiji. The Silktails have established high-performance gyms across the country, with a focus on identifying and developing local talent while promoting education and community involvement.

The team has also launched a Community Youth program in honor of their late Football Manager, Jacquie Shannon, emphasizing the importance of education and community engagement. With the support of sponsors and partners, the Silktails are committed to nurturing and developing Fiji’s best Rugby League talent.

Already, the results are evident with NRL debuts, top-30 contracts, Fiji Bati Test caps, and players progressing to other competitions. The future looks bright for the Kaiviti Silktails as they continue to make a positive impact both on and off the field.
