Mayfield NCL Side Faces Thatto Heath in NCL Premier Division Action
Mayfield’s NCL Side Set for Tough Test Against Thatto Heath
This weekend, Mayfield’s NCL side is gearing up for a challenging match as they travel to St Helens to face Thatto Heath at the Hattons Solicitors Crusader Park.
Both teams had relatively easy runouts in the National Cup last week, with Thatto Heath securing a massive victory over Cockermouth Titans. However, it’s back to NCL Premier Division action this Saturday, and Thatto Heath will be looking to improve their league standing as they currently sit in the bottom three with only two wins from six starts.
On the other hand, Mayfield’s Sam Butterworth has his team sitting in fourth place in a tightly contested table where all four top teams could draw level on points this weekend. With the standard of rugby being outstanding this season, Mayfield will need to be at their best to secure a win against Thatto Heath.
Butterworth is hopeful to have a couple of injured players back in training this week to strengthen an already strong squad. Reflecting on last week’s performance, Butterworth emphasized the need to improve their completion rate, acknowledging that the opposition will punish any mistakes.
In addition to the NCL fixture, Mayfield’s NWML team will be facing Wigan St Judes in the NWML Trophy at Mayfield Sports Centre on Saturday. Andy Reed’s side will be looking to build on their previous win and progress to the next round, but Reed is aware of the potential challenges that come with facing mid-table opposition like St Judes.
With a full weekend of fixtures ahead, including youth teams playing at home on Sunday, Mayfield is gearing up for an action-packed weekend of rugby. Fans can expect an exciting display of talent and determination as both the NCL and NWML teams look to secure important victories.
