Dolphins Favourites to Play in Las Vegas NRL Season Opener in 2025

The Dolphins are making waves in the NRL world as they are reportedly the front-runners to be announced as one of the four teams to play in Las Vegas to open the 2025 season. According to The Courier Mail, the Dolphins have the inside track to represent Queensland in this exciting event.

With the Titans and Broncos not applying to be considered and the Cowboys withdrawing their submission, the path seems clear for the Dolphins to take center stage in Vegas. While the NRL has not officially confirmed the four teams yet, a Queensland team is expected to be selected, with the Panthers and Storm also in the mix.

Dolphins CEO Terry Reader’s trip to Las Vegas last month on a fact-finding mission seems to have paid off, as the club has declared their interest in participating. Reader stated, “Our interest is, of course, based on the assumption that the terms and conditions from the NRL to participate will be sufficient to ensure the Dolphins are not worse off for participating, both financially and around our footy program.”

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are reportedly eyeing Vegas in 2026, with CEO Jeff Reibel expressing support for the NRL’s strategy. Reibel mentioned, “We are certainly keen to go in 2026, so the next 12 months will give us a longer runway to work with our commercial partners to ensure that when we do eventually go to Vegas, it will benefit all our stakeholders.”

It looks like the Dolphins are gearing up for an exciting opportunity in Las Vegas, and fans will be eagerly awaiting the official announcement from the NRL. Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling development in the world of rugby league.
