Dedicated Educator Pat Hay Takes on Role as President of Nelson Bay Marlins Rugby League Club
Pat Hay, a familiar face in the rugby league community, has taken on a new challenge as the President of the Nelson Bay Marlins Rugby League Club. With a background in coaching and a passion for developing young talent, Hay is ready to lead the club into the 2024 season.
Having coached his own son and the Marlins’ junior teams for the past seven seasons, Hay is no stranger to the hard work and dedication required to succeed in the sport. His focus on holistic development and team bonding sets him apart from the win-at-all-costs mentality that can sometimes overshadow youth sports.
Under his leadership, the Marlins are set to field sixteen competitive teams in the Hunter Junior competitions, with a strong emphasis on nurturing emerging talent. Hay’s coaching panel is excited about the progress shown by the Nelson Bay teams, with the Under 13s reaching the finals for the first time last season.
A former fullback with a promising career in his youth, Hay brings a wealth of experience to his role as President. His commitment to the club is evident in the countless hours he spends coordinating operations at the Marlins’ home base.
Looking ahead, Hay is optimistic about the potential in the Marlins’ junior age groups, with several players trialling for spots in the Newcastle Knights’ Development squads. The partnership with the Nelson Bay Bomboras club provides a clear pathway for young players as they transition into the senior ranks.
With a strong committee by his side and a clear vision for the future, Pat Hay is poised to lead the Nelson Bay Marlins to success both on and off the field. As the rugby league community eagerly anticipates the start of the 2024 season, all eyes will be on the Marlins and their dedicated President.
