Rugby League Legend Terry Hill Mourned After Sudden Death
The rugby league community is in mourning after the sudden and tragic death of NRL, NSW Origin, and Australian Kangaroos legend Terry Hill. The Daily Telegraph reported that the former Manly, Blues, and Kangaroos star passed away from a heart attack in the Philippines, where he had been spending more time in recent years while working with a charity overseas.
Hill, known for his prodigious talent on the field, represented Australia in nine Test matches and played 14 State of Origin matches for New South Wales. ARLC chairman Peter V’landys praised Hill as not only one of the game’s great centres but also one of its most popular characters, loved by all who knew him.
Hill’s family has been notified of his passing, and tributes have been pouring in from former teammates and fans alike. Former Souths teammate Craig Coleman remembered Hill as a fantastic footballer and a beloved figure in the rugby league community.
During his career, Hill played 246 first-grade games for various clubs and represented NSW in 14 Origin matches and Australia 13 times. Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, where Hill played 142 first-grade games and won a premiership in 1996, expressed their sadness at his passing and offered their condolences to his family and friends.
Former teammates Geoff Toovey and Steve Menzies also paid tribute to Hill, remembering him as a great player and a beloved friend. The rugby league world has lost a true legend, and Terry Hill will always be fondly remembered for his contributions to the sport.
