Navy Women’s Rowing Team Competes in Lake Wheeler Invite

The Navy women’s rowing team showcased their skills and determination at the Lake Wheeler Invite in Raleigh, North Carolina, as they gear up for the upcoming Patriot League Championship next month. The Mids faced off against tough competition from national programs in a series of races throughout the day.

In the morning session, Navy’s first and second varsity eight and first varsity four crews went head-to-head with teams like R/V Iowa, R/V UCF, Clemson, Louisville, and North Carolina. The Mids put up a strong fight, with the first varsity eight crew finishing in fifth place in a close battle with Louisville. The afternoon session saw Navy competing against No. 16 Duke, R/V UCF, Georgetown, Louisville, and Washington State, with the Mids once again showcasing their competitive spirit.

The second varsity eight and first varsity four crews also gave it their all, finishing in fifth place in their respective races. Despite facing tough competition, the Mids showed resilience and determination throughout the day.

Navy’s third varsity eight crew had a successful day, finishing in fifth place in their first race and coming in second in their second race. The Mids displayed strong teamwork and skill, earning a top placement in the overall standings for the program.

The Navy women’s rowing team will be back in action on Saturday morning for the final session of racing at the Lake Wheeler Invitational. With their impressive performance at the invite, the Mids are poised to make a strong showing at the upcoming Patriot League Championship.
