Washington College Men’s Rowing Team Dominates Brigantine Sprints, Captures Overall Team Trophy
The Washington College men’s rowing team showcased their dominance at the Brigantine Sprints over the weekend, capturing both the First Varsity Eight and Second Varsity Eight races to secure the Overall Team Trophy. Despite challenging conditions with high winds, the Shoremen and Shorewomen Rowing teams powered through the 2,000-meter course hosted by Stockton.
In the First Varsity Eight race, Washington College edged out Villanova by a narrow margin, with Stockton and Franklin & Marshall following closely behind. The Second Varsity Eight race saw Washington College once again emerge victorious, defeating F&M and Stockton with a strong performance.
Coxswain Patrick Beene of the First Varsity Eight expressed his excitement over the team’s success, stating, “It was exciting to get the win over some great teams and fight through the conditions. We pushed through rough water and came out on top.” Hunter Frederick of the Second Varsity Eight highlighted the team’s youth and the valuable experience gained from racing in challenging conditions.
Looking ahead, the Washington College rowing teams will be competing at the WPI Invitational in Worcester, Massachusetts from April 12-14. With their recent success at the Brigantine Sprints, the Shoremen and Shorewomen are poised to continue their strong performances and make a statement in the upcoming regattas.
