Syracuse Men’s Rowing Prepares for 2024 Season

Syracuse men’s rowing had a standout season in 2023, with each crew placing in the top 15 at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championship and an eighth-place finish in the Ten Eyck Trophy standings. As the Orange gear up for the 2024 season, there are several key factors to keep an eye on.

Freshmen Beck Honebein and Oles Walo are two newcomers to watch, with promising results from the fall season. Honebein was the only freshman on the varsity 8 team that finished first in the Cornell Fall Classic, while Walo showcased his skills in the 4V8 and 3V8 races.

However, Syracuse also bid farewell to key members of its Henley Crew, including Bricen Nygaard, Emory Sammons, Connor Toomey, and Ryan Elsinga. Despite these departures, assistant coach Connor Walters expressed confidence in the younger group and highlighted the potential within the team.
