Strong Start to Spring Season for OSU Women’s Rowing: Three Wins and a Record-Breaking Performance
Oregon State Women’s Rowing kicked off their spring season with a bang, securing three impressive wins against Washington State and the University of Miami on March 23. The victories in the 1V8, 2V8, and 2V4 events showcased the team’s strength and determination as they continue their successful run from last year.
The momentum from their recent wins can be traced back to their annual C.R.A.S.H. Beavs ergometer (ERG) rowing event in February, where senior Evan Park set a new program record with a time of 6:37 minutes, beating the previous record of 6:41 minutes held by former Beaver Alina Hagstrom. This event marked the end of their winter training season and served as a precursor to their spring competitions.
Park’s dedication and hard work on the ERG machine have paid off, setting a high standard for herself and her teammates as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of the new season. Despite the individual nature of the ERG event, Park emphasizes the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving their goals.
As Oregon State Women’s Rowing gears up for a busy month ahead with four meets in April, they find themselves ranked among the top 20 PAC-12 teams, with high expectations and a strong desire to compete at the highest level. With their next meet scheduled for April 13 in Charlottesville, Virginia, the Beavers are ready to continue their winning streak and make their mark in the competitive world of collegiate rowing.
Stay tuned for more updates on Oregon State Women’s Rowing as they strive for success and aim to exceed expectations in the upcoming season.
