Navy Women’s Rowing Team Shines at Atlantic-10 Invitational
The Navy women’s rowing team showcased their skills and determination at the Atlantic-10 Invitational held at Overpeck Park in northern New Jersey. The Mids competed in 10 races against nine different institutions, putting on an impressive performance throughout the day.
The highlight of the competition was the first varsity eight crew, which secured a victory in the afternoon session. The team also achieved eight runner-up results in various races, demonstrating their competitive spirit and drive to succeed.
Head coach Joe Schlosberg praised the team’s performance, stating, “It was good to get back to racing this weekend. The blustery wind made for some interesting conditions and challenging racing for all crews. The team did a good job from the morning to the afternoon closing margins and even flipping them in some cases.”
In the first varsity eight race, Navy faced off against Columbia and Marist, with the Lions emerging victorious. However, in the afternoon session, the Mids improved their finish time and secured a win over Rhode Island and Bucknell.
The second varsity eight and first varsity four crews also put on strong performances, with Navy showing significant improvement in their times and results throughout the day. The third varsity eight and second varsity four crews also displayed their competitive spirit and determination in their respective races.
Looking ahead, Coach Schlosberg expressed his excitement for the upcoming Lake Wheeler Invitational and the opportunity for the team to continue their training and preparation for future competitions.
