Preview: Army-Navy Men’s Tennis Match Set for Saturday in Annapolis

In a highly anticipated matchup, the annual Army-Navy men’s tennis match is set to take place this Saturday in Annapolis. The Star Match, part of the Star Series presented by USAA, will feature the Black Knights with a record of 12-13, 4-1 in the league, against the Mids who boast a record of 25-14, 4-2 in the league.

Navy enters the match with a strong overall record but split their last two matches, winning against Bucknell and losing to Hampton. On the other hand, Army has been on a decent run with a 5-3 record in their last eight matches, with recent wins over Holy Cross, Loyola, Lafayette, St. Bonaventure, and Lehigh.

The series history between the two teams heavily favors Navy, who hold a 71-38 advantage overall and have won the last nine meetings dating back to 2018. Navy also leads the Star Match series by a count of 56-30, having won the last seven Star Matches since 2016.

Both teams have had success in matches ending with a 4-3 scoreline, with Navy holding a 6-2 record and Army with a 2-1 record in such matches. The doubles point will also be crucial in determining the outcome, as Navy has won the point in 24 of their 39 matches this season, while Army has earned the point in 12 of their 25 matches.

With the Patriot League Tournament looming next weekend, both teams will be looking to gain momentum and bragging rights in this highly competitive and historic rivalry. Fans can catch all the action live at the USNA Tennis Courts or follow the live results on NavySports.com.
