Philip Doyle Determined to Avoid Tokyo Disappointment Repeat in Paris

Banbridge rower Philip Doyle is determined to make a splash at the upcoming Paris Olympics after a disappointing outing at the Tokyo Games. Doyle, who had high hopes of winning a medal in the men’s double sculls event in Tokyo, saw his dreams dashed by a series of setbacks, including the Covid-19 pandemic and injuries.

However, Doyle is not one to dwell on the past. Alongside his partner Daire Lynch, he has been putting in the hard work during the winter training season to ensure they are in peak form for the upcoming World Cup in Varese, Italy, and ultimately the Olympics in Paris.

Reflecting on his past experiences, Doyle emphasized the importance of finding the right balance in training and avoiding the pitfalls of overdoing it. He acknowledged the support of his family and hometown community, who have stood by him through thick and thin.

With the Sinkovic brothers from Croatia opting to race in the men’s pair event, Doyle and Lynch now have a golden opportunity to make their mark in the double sculls field. They are eager to test themselves against the best in the world and are excited to showcase their hard work and dedication on the racecourse.

As they gear up for the first World Cup of the season, all eyes will be on Doyle and Lynch as they aim to prove that they are indeed sharks in the water, ready to take on any challenge that comes their way. Stay tuned for more updates on their journey to redemption at the Paris Olympics.
