Former Grange School Siblings Shine at Rowing Championships, Help Great Britain Top Medal Table
Former students of The Grange School in Hartford, siblings Tom and Emily Ford have made quite the splash in the rowing world as they helped Great Britain secure three medals in Varese, Italy over the weekend.
Tom Ford clinched gold as part of the men’s eight, showcasing dominant form alongside his crewmates. The team finished more than two seconds ahead of the Netherlands in the final, with Germany taking home the bronze. Their impressive performance in the heats set the tone for their success, finishing six seconds clear of Italy.
Meanwhile, Emily Ford played a pivotal role in the women’s eight and women’s four teams, earning silver medals in both events. In the women’s four, Emily was part of the GBR2 boat that came second to the GBR1 boat in the heats, advancing to the A final where they once again finished behind their teammates. Emily then quickly transitioned to the women’s eight boat, where she, along with her crewmates, secured another silver medal, finishing just behind Italy.
The siblings’ success in Varese bodes well for Great Britain as they prepare for the upcoming European Championships in Szeged, Hungary, and look ahead to the Olympic Games in Paris this summer.
