Babil Water Sports Center in Mersin: A Hub for Water Sports and Activities

Mersin, a city known for its beautiful coastline and ideal climate for water sports, has recently opened a state-of-the-art water sports center that is set to revolutionize the sports scene in the region. The Babil Water Sports Center, located in Mezitli District, offers a wide range of water sports activities such as surfing, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, and rowing.

Covering an area of 340 square meters, the center consists of two separate buildings designed specifically for different water sports disciplines. The facilities include a closed area for canoeing and rowing, a section for sailing athletes, an administrative area, a warehouse for equipment storage, changing rooms, and shower facilities. The center also offers certified diving and lifeguard training approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Emrullah Taşkın, the Head of the Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Services Department, expressed his excitement about the opening of the Babil Water Sports Center, emphasizing the municipality’s commitment to promoting sports in Mersin. Taşkın highlighted the importance of providing opportunities for all citizens to engage in water sports and welcomed everyone to benefit from the new facility.

Cengiz Sönmez, the President of Mersin Rota Sailing Club, praised the Babil Water Sports Center as a rare and modern facility that will put Mersin on the map for sailing in Turkey. Sönmez emphasized the city’s potential in sea sports and expressed his belief that Mersin will once again become a prominent destination for sailing races and international competitions.

With its world-class facilities and commitment to promoting water sports among all age groups, the Babil Water Sports Center is set to become a hub for athletes and enthusiasts alike, solidifying Mersin’s reputation as a sports city on the rise.
