West Virginia University Rowing Team to Compete in George Washington Invitational
The West Virginia University rowing team is gearing up for an exciting weekend as they head to Washington, D.C., to compete in the George Washington Invitational on the Potomac River near the Thompson Boat Center. The competition will feature schools such as Drexel, George Washington, Georgetown, North Carolina, Old Dominion, St. Joseph’s, and Temple.
Despite concerns about weather conditions, WVU coach Jimmy King is optimistic about the team’s performance. He believes that the multiple rounds of racing will be beneficial as they work on blending the combination of youth and experience in their crews.
The format of the event is a duals race, with two schools paired to race each other in each session. The Mountaineers will face off against St. Joe’s on Friday afternoon, North Carolina on Saturday morning, and Old Dominion on Saturday afternoon.
The schedule for the George Washington Invitational is packed with exciting races, including the 1V8+, 2V8+, 1V4+, and 2V4+ events. The team will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against some tough opponents throughout the weekend.
