Folsom Native Michelle Sechser to Compete in 2024 Olympics in Paris

Folsom native Michelle Sechser is gearing up for her second appearance at the Olympics, set to compete in the lightweight women’s double sculls at the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. Sechser’s journey in the sport of rowing began at the age of 14 when she joined Folsom’s Capital Crew, following in the footsteps of her older sister.

Now at 37, Sechser has proven herself as a formidable force in the world of rowing, with an impressive athletic career that includes a fifth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics alongside Molly Reckford. Undeterred by the outcome, Sechser set her sights on another shot at Olympic glory, and her dedication has paid off as she prepares to represent Folsom once again on the international stage.

Throughout her career, Sechser has achieved numerous milestones, including winning the lightweight double sculls at the 2021 World Rowing Final Olympic Qualification Regatta and securing a third-place finish at the 2011 Pan American Games. Her recent silver medal at the 2023 World Championships further solidifies her status as a top contender in the sport.

Off the water, Sechser pursued her education at the University of Tulsa, where she earned her MBA. In her downtime, she enjoys competing in cycling and bike racing. With the 2024 Olympics just around the corner, Sechser is poised to showcase her skills once again, with her competition scheduled for July 27.

As Sechser prepares to take on the French waters this summer, fans and supporters eagerly await the opportunity to cheer on this hometown hero as she continues to make waves in the world of rowing.
