Plovdiv to Host European Rowing Championships in 2025
Plovdiv, the charming city in southern Bulgaria, has secured the prestigious honor of hosting the European Rowing Championships in 2025. The decision was made by the European branch of the World Rowing Federation, choosing Plovdiv over seven other European cities. The championship will take place on the rowing canal from May 29 to June 1, promising an exciting and competitive event for rowing enthusiasts.
Annamarie Phelps, the President of the European Headquarters, extended her congratulations to Bulgaria and expressed her confidence in Plovdiv’s ability to provide excellent conditions for the competition. Ivan Popov, the Organizing Committee Chair, highlighted the significance of the event, noting that this will be the second time Plovdiv has hosted a competition of this caliber since 2011.
With top rowing nations like England, Germany, France, and Italy expected to participate, the European Championships will showcase some of the best talents in the sport. Popov anticipates a strong turnout of 750 to 950 rowers from across Europe, competing in 350-400 shells. Additionally, teams from other continents will also join the competition, albeit outside the official rankings.
The Organizing Committee in Plovdiv, in collaboration with the city municipality and the Sports Ministry, is fully committed to ensuring a seamless and successful event.
