Yate Ladies and Mens Hockey Match Recaps

Yate Ladies 1s and Yate Mens 1s both had successful home fixtures in their final games of the season.

Yate Ladies 1s hosted Team Bath Buccs 3 and came out strong with plenty of early pressure and penalty corners. Kyishia Cooke opened the scoring after intercepting a pass and calmly lifting the ball past the keeper. Zoe Vale then set up Cooke for a second goal before Isabella Joy found Cooke again for a hat-trick goal. Yate’s defense held firm in the second half as they secured a 4-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Yate Mens 1s faced Bristol UWE in their final league home game. After a slow start, Nick PG, Will Davies, and Rhys Gamlin scored to give Yate a 3-1 lead at halftime. The second half saw Yate dominate with goals from multiple players, including Nick PG with a hat-trick. The final score was officially 9-1, but the correct score was 10-1 as one goal was missed by the umpires. Yate now sits in 3rd place in the table with one game left in the season.

Yate Ladies Development Team played their last game away at Bristol and West. Despite a strong team spirit, they found themselves trailing 3-2 at halftime. Nicola Bruce and Imogen C scored for Yate, but B&W managed to pull ahead with two more goals. Despite a valiant effort in the second half, Yate was unable to secure a draw and the match ended 5-3 in favor of B&W. The team remained positive and enjoyed the game, showcasing the spirit of the Development team throughout the season.
